Just how bad are the beaches getting hit and what is being done about it?

Please take a look at this MSNBC Slide Show to understand what we are up against. Also, reports are coming in regarding the quality of beach cleanup BP is providing. Though we cannot verify all of this information, some are saying that the cleanup is more PR oriented than focused on providing a sustainable solution. This report claims that BP is only cleaning the top layer of sand, leaving layers of oil soaked sands below the surface which as it breaks down will create noxious odors and spoil the beaches. Please take special notice of this St. Petersburg Times article describing how there is a layer of oil six inches beneath the surface along part of Pensacola Beach. To make matters worse, this report claims that the problem is literally being "covered up" by simply dumping fresh sand to cover the oil contaminated sand. We understand that keeping up with a continual tidal recontamination of beach sand is a daunting task. We believe our technology is a sustainable SOLUTION because we can continually recycle the existing beach sands. Covering up the contamination will only cause problems down the line.

  1. I watched this slide show the other day when you posted it and found myself ranting and raving as I typed a response, then ended by deleting it as I walked away in disgust. It has apparently left us all speechless........WHAT A MESS THIS IS!!!!!! I pray everyday they plug this hole as this river of oil is killing everything. Bill, once plugged, perhaps you can go to work with this technology and work for a few decades cleaning it up! Let me know what I can do to help.

  2. I know what you mean. I was just as angry and rewrote the Post several times due to reacquiring my usual temperance and trying to understand that this is an opportunity for good ol' U.S. of A technology to finally emerge as a viable and commercial application. For keeping the Gulf Coast's beautiful resorts, parks, fishing area's, marinas, and condominiums in pristine, well maintained condition oil spill or not. The oilspill as you know is just a matter of removing the contaminants and restoring the beaches. The process is mechanically simple and the enzyme/protein solution is totally living organism friendly. I am not trying to trivialize the situation but you have seen the process and know the capability of my father's technologies.
